Mary the Queen Academy of Pampanga, Inc. has its quiet
beginnings as Little David Integrated Montessori Center, Inc. In
October 1999, while Mr. and Mrs. Jose Blas L. Carlos
met with Atty. and Mrs. Victor B. Roque, they expressed,
among other things, their dismay with the current state of the private
schools in Pampanga and exchanged ideas on how they could remedy
this for their children who were then still in preschool and elementary.
Propelled with a shared vision of service and excellence, they decided
on putting up their own Model Preschool.
Atty. and Mrs. Roque laid out the necessary pre-operating
plans for the school. Inspired by the Catholic Readings about David,
Mrs. Liza Roque suggested that they name the school Little David.
Mrs. Roque made a feasibility study and prepared all requirements
of the Department of Education.
On February 14, 2000, the Securities and Exchange
Commission papers of The Little David Integrated Montessori Center,
Inc. was approved and in May 2000, the Permit to Operate a Preschool
was granted by the Department of Education. The founding members
of the school are: Mr. Jose Blas L. Carlos, Mrs. Teresa
D. Carlos, Atty. Victor B. Roque, Mrs. Liza F. Roque, Mr. Medardo
S. David, and Mr. Michael B. Lapid.
The school gates of Little David formally opened in
June 2000. An old house, which stood in a 700 sq. meter lot in J.
Nepomuceno Street, Villa Victoria in the City of San Fernando, was
renovated to accommodate the first batch of enrollees, totaling
to 43 children. The following year, the Little David administration
gave in to the requests of the parents of the graduating Preparatory
students for a grade school department.
In the year 2002-2003, Little David was granted Government
Recognition for its Preschool department. That year, additional
classrooms were also put up to house the grades 2, 3 and 4 and the
total school population doubled to 120. The following school year,
one more level was added and more classrooms were built.
Since the students were no longer “little,”
the school name Little David was changed to Mary the Queen Academy
of Pampanga, (MQAP). Also, with the steady growth in school population
from its first to fourth year of operation, the growing requirements
and population of the MQAP community outgrew the Villa Victoria
campus. Board of Trustees scouted for a bigger property, which would
be the permanent home of MQAP.
The year 2004 marked an epoch in the history of MQAP.
The MQAP Administration was able to finally close a deal with the
Salesians of Don Bosco to purchase the property in Cabalantian,
Bacolor, the former site of Don Bosco Academy.
The new Mary the Queen Academy will rise from the
old campus of Don Bosco continue their growing tradition of excellence
as an inspiration to the students, faculty and school administration
in striving for greater, grander heights in education.
